With classic sensibilities and an antique romanticism, Verene quashed the New World expectation of obedient and meek women. She was not without the values and ideals of the organization and society she served -- hopeful for a unified, prospering future, and determined to do her part to bring that desire to realization -- but she regularly questioned her station and those who refused to let her rise above it. Caught between a web of manifest destiny and the once prevalent dream that hard work could launch any aspiration into actuality, the nurse of Uni-Chron often times spoke too vehemently, rose to a challenge too frequently, and never let her disparaging character be compromised. There was consequence to difference but there was also reward; she longed to know that validation. Those whom she served most loyally ignored her qualities and overlooked her concerns for them, justifying their malevolence as part and whole to their superior right. She has yielded more than once, but the point of breaking is close at hand for this malleable tempest. |

In the tradition of Homer and the Grimm Brothers, Anouk traveled from one rebel settlement to the next, writing and recording what she saw, heard, and learned, in the hopes of preserving the legacy of her world for generations to come. Born into a family of storytellers she was a natural when it came to remembering details and crucial facts, but unlike her mother, father, and older brother, she did not enjoy the art of recounting for the masses. Entrusted to her family was the history of the ante-winter, the pre-war world that existed over one thousand years ago. With that sacred truth came a devout following who believed the principles and ethics preached in the annals of humanity prior to the war could strengthen their cause and overpower the tyranny of Uni-Chron. She did not have that same faith, but as the last she recognized the importance of her continuing the tradition. Quiet and demure, Anouk epitomized the sweet exoticism of her mixed Lenni Lenape and Chinese heritage, but she was not without pivotal bouts of courage and passion when roused. | ||||
